How-To Library — Service: Note – my 66 MGB has a different kind of rheostat, I’m not sure what year they switched over to this “printed ciruit” design. I opened mine and cleaned the wire “loops” and “no resistance area” with a pink eraser and had quite good results. You can easily bypass the rheostat entirely by simply attaching all of the red wires to terminals on the same side of the rheostat. Not on just one, but two of my MGBs. According to my local British car parts house the Queen of England personally makes these for Lucas in her spare time. Since she is the Queen and can only make a few each month, the price has to be high. The basic technique of rebuilding the switch is easy but you must take your time. Required supplies would include a six pack of beer and a small screw.

It is installed in the dash of M s from the s and HMMWVs built in the s, or even later vehicles, until replaced by a pushbutton design in This page provides the wiring information for that switch along with details of its design and operation. The M-series three lever light switch is the single point of control for all the vehicle lighting circuits.

This makes and breaks a magnetic circuit each time a spark plug fires. Because of the high HEI voltage 35, volts , special 8mm diameter spark plug wires with silicone insulation are used. Silicone insulation is soft and must be handled with extreme care. Replace any scratched or nicked wire. Fuel economy is improved at cruising speeds and exhaust emissions are reduced.

Restarting of a hot engine is improved.

The black wire connects the fan to the speed controller.

Stage and show lighting Lighting is important in theatre and shows. Lighting allows us to see the performers. Lighting provides a tool for setting moods and tones of scenes on stage. Different type of performanced have different lighting needs. Here are some typical lighting situations: Dance – Back lighting Theatre plays – a somwhow realistic looking combination of different lights Straight Theatre – Light through a window Stage lighting is achieved by the use of a large number of powerful stage lights, or lanterns or luminaires.

There are a great variety of these, for different applications, or of different make or vintage. So there are many different types of lighting instruments used in any theatre.

How to Replace a Light Switch

You first must choose which color and brightness is needed for the under counter LED strip light installation. We selected ColorBright Warm White LED strip lights because the color matched the existing lighting colors in the cafe k color temperature. Warm color temperatures are great for creating a comfortable atmosphere and promoting feelings of relaxation.

Next I’m trying to install a dimmer switch, Leviton Slide Dimmer.? We had difficulties, becuase I took everything apart, and we didn’t know the hot wires, and the one that goes to a different room and one that turns the light on. We got 4 wires. We tested them with a wire tester, and the light lite. On the Dimmer Switch, we have On the Dimmer Switch, we have four wires. I scanned the instructions, so tell me what I have to do. It looks like, one red wire, just stays there.

I don’t want to cause a fire.

But it brought up some questions, and a bit of anxiety. First — uch, back-stabbed outlets. That meant having to cut and strip already somewhat-short wires. Advertisement The first outlet was a little tricky.

Twisting with pliers would have obliterated the small stranded wires.

A common household dimmer switch used for motor speed control connects to a ceiling fan. There is a difference in lighting dimmers and those designed to handle the load for an electric motor. Pay attention to power ratings to connect the right switch to a motor. Set the speed with a proper dimmer switch. Step 1 Choose a dimmer that’s made for running an electric motor. Select a switch manufactured for use as a motor controller that has an adjustable minimum speed setting. Match the power rating on the switch to the specifications for the motor.

A ceiling fan will have a sticker label, or metal plate on the inside or outside of the hub cover that lists the amps and possibly the watts used at maximum power consumption. Find the number of watts used by multiplying by the number of amps if the watts are not listed. Buy a switch that is rated to handle an equal amount or more watts used by the motor. Step 2 Shut off the power to a ceiling fan with the breaker switch.

Different PI parameters and distance to travel for the motor. Added an switch for automatic calibration of the top position. Removed the battery charger.

This user interface was a bit more complex than I first anticipated and took quite some time to debug.

What color wires do you have loose at the box? I’m pretty sure the “common” wire is right, but not absolutely. In the present configuration, I’m not getting any light image. It was a jumper wire from the new dimmer. I had to remove the wire going into the old switch. In retrospect I should’ve just cut it off at the switch Electrician: I have a couple of questions on what I can see there is a yellow wire that appears to be connected to two black wires.

Can you tell me where thise two black wires go? FYI – the white wire will not be used for this dimmer. You can’t see it, but one has come off that I have to reattach to the switch on the right side — that goes to a receptacle that isn’t being used.

How many led lights can I hook up to one dimmer switch?

The following connectors etc. A couple of pieces of mounting wire, preferably in a few different colors for use on the PCB. A piece of twin wire cable for use between the power supply and our PCB.

I always add an external pull-up resistor.

Kit Stansley I like mood lighting as much as anyone, particularly first thing in the morning when the full blast of light from a watt bulb makes me scream like a vampire at high noon. Regardless, I like to be able to adjust the brightness in a room, and installing a dimmer switch is a pretty easy way to get control over your lighting. If you have CFL bulbs you will need to go with one of the newer varieties, like those from Lutron. Kit Stansley Does that floor look familiar? Power Down Not at the switch—at the breaker.

This is always at least a three-trip ordeal for me… down to the basement, flip the breaker, up to test the switch, over and over again. However, it beats sticking your hand into a live circuit any day. I always use a voltage detector before touching any wires.
